FAQ
  • Q: How can we learn more about the recommended host families?
A:  After an on-site visit, C&T staff will send detailed photos of the host family’s living environment to students and parents. We also arrange video calls or in-person visits with host families, allowing you to gain a deeper understanding and choose the most suitable home.
  • Q: How do you match students with host families?
A: Students and parents complete a homestay matching questionnaire. The C&T homestay service team will then recommend host families that best meet the preferences and requirements indicated on the form.
  • Q: How do you ensure the safety of the students?
A: The C&T professional team conducts background checks and annual reviews for every recommended host family. Our coordinators personally visit each home every month to monitor the student’s well-being and the relationship with the host family.
  • Q: What are the responsibilities of the host family?
A:  During the student’s stay, both C&T and the host family serve as guardians. The host family provides the student with a private room, breakfast and dinner on weekdays (lunch is purchased at school), and three meals a day on weekends. They also act as guardians on behalf of the parents—communicating with school teachers about the student’s performance, attending parent-teacher meetings, and overseeing the student’s daily routines.
  • Q: What amenities are provided in the host family’s room?
A:  Each room is equipped with a bed, bedding, a desk, and a wardrobe.

  • Q: What happens if the host family needs to be away for a few days?
A:  C&T has a strict policy that students are not allowed to stay home alone overnight. If the host family needs to travel or be away temporarily (for business trips or family vacations), they will usually arrange for a relative to stay at home to look after the student, or C&T will arrange for the student to stay with another nearby host family. Host family absences cannot exceed five days, and for most family trips, students are typically invited to join.
  • Q: How is transportation arranged for school and extracurricular activities?
A: If there is a school bus service in the area, most students take the school bus to and from school. If there is no school bus available, the host family will provide transportation. For extracurricular activities, transportation depends on the host family’s availability. If the activity schedule conflicts with the host family’s work, a private driver may need to be arranged at your own expense. C&T can help coordinate a driver (transportation fees are extra).
  • Q: I’m concerned about my child spending too much time on electronic devices. Can the host family help supervise this?
A:  Yes, the host family can help supervise electronic device usage according to the parents’ requirements. For example, they can enforce rules such as having students turn in their phones and laptops by a certain time in the evening, or limit the daily usage time for electronic devices.
  • Q: What if my child has difficulties with their studies?
A:  The Local Coordinator and host family will promptly contact school teachers to understand the reasons behind any poor academic performance and provide support to the student. If the student is struggling with subject material, C&T’s tutoring team can offer academic tutoring (additional fees apply). Specific rules will be explained by the Local Coordinator before the student moves in.
